ആദ്യ വനിതാ തന്ത്രിയായി 11 കാരി ജ്യോത്സന
ചരിത്രത്തില്‍ ആദ്യമായി താന്ത്രികകുലത്തില്‍ നിന്ന് ഒരു പെണ്‍കുട്ടി ക്ഷേത്രപ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തി. തരണനല്ലൂര്‍ പരമ്പരയിലെ ഇളംതലമുറയില്‍പെട്ട പതിനൊന്നുകാരി ജ്യോത്സനയാണ് ഭദ്ര കാളി പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയത്. തൃശൂര്‍ കാട്ടൂര്‍ പൊഞ്ഞനം പൈങ്കണ്ണിക്കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലായിരുന്നു ചടങ്ങ്.
ക്ഷേത്ര പ്രതിഷ്ഠയും പൂജകളും സ്ത്രീക്ക് നിഷിദ്ധമാണന്ന പതിവ് തെറ്റിദ്ധാരണകളെ തിരുത്തികുറിച്ചുകൊണ്ടാപയിരുന്നു ജ്യോത്സന കര്മ്മങ്ങള് നിര് വഹിച്ചത്. പൂജ നടത്തിയ വിഗ്രഹം ആദ്യം പീഠത്തിലേക്ക് പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് വിഗ്രഹത്തിലേക്ക് ജീവാത്മാവിനെ പകര്‍ന്നു. ആചാര്യന്മാരുടെ അനുമതിയോടെയും ആശിര്‍ വാദത്തോടെയുമായിരുന്നു ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ താന്ത്രിക ശാസ്ത്രത്തിലൊരിടത്തും സ്ത്രീക്ക് ഇത്തരം കാര്യങ്ങള്‍ നിഷിദ്ധമാണന്ന് പറഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലന്നും പിന്നെയെന്തിന് സ്ത്രീയെ മാറ്റി നിര്‍ത്തണമെന്ന് തരണനല്ലൂര്‍ പാരമ്പര്യത്തിലെ കാരണവരായ പത് മനാഭന് നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാട് ചോദിക്കുന്നു.
ചെറുപ്പം മുതലേ പൂജാകാര്യങ്ങളില്‍ താല്പരയായ ജ്യോത്സന മൂന്നു വര്‍ഷം മുമ്പാണ് മന്ത്രദീക്ഷ സ്വീകരിച്ച് പൂജാപഠനം തുടങ്ങിയത്.തുടര്‍ന്ന് ഭദ്രകാളി ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ നിത്യപൂജ ഏറ്റെടുത്തു. തന്ത്രശാസ്ത്രവും അഭ്യസിക്കാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. കഴിഞ്ഞ അഞ്ചുമാസമായി പ്രതിഷ്ഠാകര്‍മ്മത്തിന് വേണ്ടിയുള്ള തയാറെടുപ്പിലായിരുന്നു ജ്യോത്സന.
കാരാഞ്ചിറ സെന്റ് സേവിയേഴ്സ് സ്കൂളിലെഏഴാം ക്ളാസ് വിദ്യാര്‍ഥിനിയാണ് ജ്യോത്സന.പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നിര്‍വഹിച്ചതോടെ ആദ്യ വനിതാ തന്ത്രി കൂടിയാവുകയാണ് ജ്യോത്സന.

Kerala gets its first temple priestess

Eleven-year-old Jyotsna Namboothiripad has created history by becoming the first female temple priest (tantri) in Kerala by performing the ritualistic installation of the goddess’s idol at the ancient Painkannikkavu Durga Devi Temple at Kattur in Thrissur district.
For the Class VII student, the moment meant realisation of her most cherished dream but for Kerala, it symbolised the opening of a new era in the tantri system at Hindu temples. Jyotsna is daughter of Padmanabhan Namboothiripad of Irinjala-kkuda’s Tharananellur Math-om, one of the two schools of tantric rites in the State.
“I have been enthusiastic about learning tantras and temple systems from my early childhood,” said priestess Jyotsna. And her wish? “There is much more to learn in tantra. I want to learn as much as possible,” she said.
Senior Hindu priests of famous temples said they welcomed the entry of a priestess into temple rites.
Padmanabhan (Aniyan) Namboothiripad, who trained Jyotsna in tantras, said the system was not forbidden for women. “Any woman with proper knowledge in tantras can become a tantri. Then why have we not seen a priestess so far? The only reason is that nobody had thought of it. The reason could also be the domination in the field by male priests,” he said.
On Sunday morning, Jyotsna reached the Painkannikkavu temple owned by her own Tharananellur family, accompanied by the guru and the elders in the family and entered the renovated Goddess Durga shrine after paying respects to them.
She performed all installation rites as required by the tantric system under supervision of the guru. After installing the idol, she performed Brahmakalasa Abhi-shekam and Parikalasa Abhishekam without faltering.
Jyotsna had begun her training to become priestess under Aniyan Namboothiripad from early childhood and she passed its first phase by accepting the manthra deeksha (initiation into scholarship of the Suktas) three years ago. She accepted the karma deeksha (initiation into practice of rites) later.
As the 11-year-old went about the idol installation process, devotees outside the shrine chanted praises of Goddess Durga and after the ritual she distributed the prasad to all of them, who sought her blessings.
The rituals ended with father Padmanabhan Namboothiripad and mother Archana seeking the blessings of the priestess by prostrating at her feet.
Jyotsna would now perform the pujas on all important occasions, including the installation day festivals, at the Painkannikkaavu temple, one of the 108 ancient temples of Goddess Durga in Kerala. She would occupy the conceptual position of the mother of Goddess Durga of the Painkannikkavu temple.
Those in the Tharananellur Mathom also hold the positions of tantris in various famous temples in central Kerala like the Koodal Manikyam temple of Irinjalakkuda and the Sree Rama Temple of Thriprayar. The other tantric school in Kerala is the Thazhamon Mathom of Chengannur in Alappuzha district.

ഇരിങ്ങാലക്കുട: പട്ടുകുപ്പായവും പാവാടയുമണിഞ്ഞ് ജ്യോത്സ്‌ന കാല്‍വെച്ചത് ചരിത്രത്തിന്റെ ശ്രീകോവിലിലേക്കാണ്. തരണനെല്ലൂര്‍ തന്ത്രി കുടുംബത്തിലെ പന്ത്രണ്ടുകാരി പ്രതിഷ്ഠ നടത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ചിരപ്രതിഷ്ഠിതമെന്ന് കരുതിയ ഒരു വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ അടിത്തറ ഇളകി. കേരളത്തിലെ തന്ത്രികുടുംബങ്ങളില്‍ നിന്നുള്ള ആദ്യവനിതാ തന്ത്രിയുടെ ആരോഹണത്തിന് പൊഞ്ഞനം പൈങ്കണ്ണിക്കാവിലെ ഭക്തര്‍ സാക്ഷികളായി.
പൈങ്കണ്ണിക്കാവ് ക്ഷേത്രത്തിലെ ഉപദേവതയായ ഭദ്രകാളിയെയാണ് ജ്യോത്സ്‌ന പ്രതിഷ്ഠിച്ചത്. ബാലാലയത്തില്‍ സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്ന ഭദ്രകാളീ വിഗ്രഹത്തിലേക്ക് താന്ത്രികമന്ത്രങ്ങളെ ആവാഹിച്ചു. കാളീ സ്തുതികള്‍ ഉയര്‍ന്ന അന്തരീക്ഷത്തില്‍ കലശപൂജ നടത്തി, പ്രാണവായു ജീവനായി വിഗ്രഹത്തിലേക്ക് പകര്‍ന്നു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് പുതിയ ശ്രീകോവിലിലേക്ക് പരികര്‍മികള്‍ വിഗ്രഹം കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
പീഠത്തിലെ യോഗനാളത്തിലേക്ക് വിഗ്രഹം ഉറപ്പിച്ചശേഷം ജ്യോത്സ്‌ന നടയടച്ച് പൂജ ചെയ്ത് ദീപാരാധന നടത്തി. ശംഖില്‍ അഭിഷേകജലം ഭക്തരിലേക്ക് തളിച്ചു. ശ്രീകോവിലിനു പുറത്തേക്കിറങ്ങിയ കൊച്ചുതന്ത്രിയെ ഭക്തര്‍ ദക്ഷിണ നല്‍കി വണങ്ങി.
അവരില്‍ അച്ഛന്‍ പത്മനാഭന്‍നമ്പൂതിരിപ്പാടും അമ്മ അര്‍ച്ചന അന്തര്‍ജനവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. കരാഞ്ചിറ സെന്റ് സേവിയേഴ്സ് സ്‌കൂളില്‍ ഏഴാം ക്ലാസ്സില്‍ പഠിക്കുന്ന ജ്യോത്സ്‌നയുടെ കര്‍മങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് സാക്ഷികളായി കളിക്കൂട്ടുകാരും അനുജന്‍ ശങ്കരനുമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Jyotsna Padmanabhan, a 12-year-old girl, is all set to script history by being the first female in Kerala to conduct an idol installation in accordance with tantric rituals.
The girl’s entry into the sanctum sanctorum of the Paikunikavu Sri Krishna Temple at Kattoor near Irinjalakuda on Sunday to conduct the ‘prathishta’ of Goddess Bhadrakali will mark a new chapter in the religious history of Kerala as there is no precedent of a woman, other than a spiritual leader, conducting an idol installation.
If you tag it as a revolt by a group who does not have a clear-cut idea of the existing rituals and rites, you are mistaken.
Jyotsna, a seventh-standard student, belongs to Tharanallur Mana, one of the two Tantri families in Kerala, the other being Thazhamon.
Those leading her as considered to be the last words in the tantric rituals.
Born and brought up in the world of temples and poojas, the girl had developed a keen interest in tantric rituals and started learning it under Tharanallur Padmanabhan Namboothiripad, the tantri of many renowned temples including Sree Rama Temple in Thriprayar and Koodalmanikyam temple in Irinjalakuda.
The rituals at Paikunikavu Sri Krishna Temple will begin at 9 a.m. when the girl will enter the ‘Balalayam’ to invoke the deity in a ‘kalasam’. This will be installed at the renovated sanctum sanctorum. Jyotsna’s guru Tharanallur Padmanabhan Namboothiripad will lead the tantric rites.
Friends and well-wishers of the family have arrived to witness the sacred event.
Jyotsna’s father Padmanabhan Namboothiripad said the move was not meant to create any controversy, rather to say that the tantric science did not ban women from performing rites. “Tantric science says that women are ideal to perform these rites. Problem is with the ritual and practices. Rituals are bound to change in the course of time,” he said. He said he was guiding his daughter in the path of truth and teaching her the best science known to him.
He added that there was no caste difference in performing the rites.
Jyotsna who started learning tantra at the age of seven, told ‘Express’ over phone from Irinjalakuda that she had interest in tantric rituals from childhood.
“I will continue to learn more,” she says.
